Paula Varjack kicks off a new season of Now Hear this on Reboot Fm, in conversation with poet Michael Haeflinger. Musical guest Cera Impala.
Michael Haeflinger is a poet and collage artist from Dayton, OH who lives in Berlin. His work has been featured in several magazines and on websites based the US, UK, and Germany. The poems he will read on Now Hear This come from a collection he’s written based on the life of his grandfather, who was an underground iron ore miner in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the 1950s and 60s, as well as on Ojibwa mythology from the region.
Cera Impala is the enchantingly powerful vocalist, banjoist and songwriter for The New Prohibition Band and KILL BAMBI. She also admits an affection for the ukelele, and ragtime piano. A fountain of songs she twists genre compelling listeners by her tender and ravenous, sweet but saucy, altogether unique style.
