Memory culture has an important part in the process of constituting groups and communities. On the other hand, memory can also serve as a differentiating factor for the exclusion of large parts of society. Mark Terkessidis, migration researcher and author of “Whose memory counts? Colonial past and racism today” (2019) and Michael Rothberg, Holocaust and memory researcher and author of “Multidirectional Memory: Remebering the Holocaust in the Age of Decolonization” (2009) investigate the question of a multi-perspective memory culture in a diverse society. Erinnerung spielt eine wichtige Rolle im Prozess der Konstituierung von Gruppen und Gemeinschaften. Andererseits kann Erinnerung aber auch als Differenzierungsfaktor für Ausgrenzung großer Teile der Gesellschaft dienen. Koloniale Vergangenheit und Rassismus heute“ (2019) und Michael Rothberg, Holocaust- und Erinnerungsforscher sowie Autor von „Multidirectional Memory: Remebering the Holocaust in the Age of Decolonisation“ (2009, deutsche Übersetzung in Vorbereitung) gehen wir der Frage nach, wie eine multiperspektivische Erinnerungskultur in einer diversen Gesellschaft zu gestalten wäre.
