What it is about:
This broadcast is an edit of recordings from two protest actions, which took place in the form of ‘rehearsals’ in the public space in front of the Humboldt Forum in Berlin. The first one was on the 15th of August 2020, just before the 7th Celebration of the re-naming of the M-Strasse. The second one took place on the 16th of December, the day that Humboldt Forum officially, although just digitally, opened.
These were the first two actions of the Coalition of Cultural Workers Against the Humboldt Forum, an open and constantly growing alliance of cultural workers based primarily in Berlin, formed in the summer of 2020.
The live recordings include songs written and performed by the Coalition’s Tear Down Ensemble as well as statements in English and German by members and companions. This is cut together with fragments of a radio interview conducted by Deutschland Funk with one of the members.

Dieser Radiobeitrag kombiniert Aufnahmen von zwei Protestaktionen, die in der Form von ‚rehearsals’ im öffentlichen Raum vor dem Humboldt Forum stattgefunden haben. Die erste fand am 15. August 2020 statt, kurz vor dem „7. M-Straßen-Umbennenungsfest“. Die zweite fand am 16. Dezember 2020 statt, dem Tag, an dem das Humboldt Forum offiziell, jedoch nur digital, eröffnet wurde.
Das waren die ersten beiden Aktionen der „Coalition of Cultural Workers Against the Humboldt Forum“, eine offene und fortlaufend wachsende Allianz von Kulturarbeiter*innen, von denen die meisten in Berlin leben, gegründet im Sommer 2020.
Die Aufnahmen umfassen Songs, die vom Tear-Down-Ensemble der Coalition geschrieben und performt wurden, und Statements von Mitglieder*innen und Verbündeten in Englisch und Deutsch. Diese wurden mit Fragmenten eines Radiointerviews von Deutschlandfunk mit einem Mitglied der Coalition zusammengeschnitten.
