Es gibt Neues, Wiederentdecktes, Wurzeln, Merkwürdiges zwischen Rebellion, Tanzgroove, Liebesbeteuerungen und Seelenleid - biografische Interviews und Themensendungen, manchmal taucht die Sendung einfach in ein Meer voller Perlen.

Popkontext.de ist auch eine Webseite, auf der es wie in der Sendung um Pokultur und Popmusik geht, die unter anderen Perspektiven betrachtet werden soll als im Mainstream: Es werden weibliche, homosexuelle und nichtweiße Perspektiven mit betrachtet , die im Mainstream zu kurz kommen und es soll nicht um eine schnelle Verkaufslogik gehen, sondern Musik und Kultur mit Schönheit, Geschichte und Substanz.

Barbara Mürdter, lebt als freie Kulturjournalistin in Berlin. Sie hat zehn 10 Jahre Musiksendungen bei Radio Flora Hannover gemacht, war ebenso lange Kneipen-DJ im „Bösen Wolf“ und stellt nächtliche Musikschleifen für die NDR Info Nighlounge zusammen.

Popkontext is about connections – within a hundred years of recorded music, a hundred genres, it travels, inspired by the cultural diversity of Berlin, from the mother country of pop music, the US, into the world and back. It offers new and rediscovered music, roots and strange things between rebellion, dance grooves, assuranmces of love and suffering of the soul. The show will come with biographic interviews, look at special topics or may just dive into a sea of pearls.

Popkontext.de is also a website that looks just as the show at popculture and popmusic from a different angle: It tries to include female, gay & lesbian and nonwhite perspectives that are usually missing in the mainstream. It’s not about culture as a fast to consume product but about its beauty, history and substance.

On the website you will not only find the playlists, but also videos, links and interviews with the artists introduced in the show.

Barbara Mürdter is a freelance arts and culture journalist from Berlin. She hosted music shows at Radio Flora in Hanover for 10 years, has been Djing in pubs and clubs since 1997 and has been putting together mixtapes and sometimes contributing music related radio stories for public radio station NDR Info since 2007.
