Wahlen Gegen Rechts & Artists Without A Cause present ‘Like It Is’: Featuring Naomi Bisley (they/them) from Artists Without a Cause and Wählen Gegen Rechts with guests Natalie Mariko (she/her) who is a trans woman poet from New Jersey. Her poems have appeared in Whirlwind Magazine, all roads will lead you home, New Contrast South African Literary Journal, YES Poetry, & SUSAN Journal. She has also contributed to the award-winning music blog The Grey Estates & regularly updates her own blog theblackbottomofawell. We are also joined by Olympia Bukkakis (she/her). Olympia is a Berlin-based performer and hosts Get Fucked, Apocalypse Tonight, Fancy and Queens Against Borders and is currently studying a Masters in Solo Dance Authorship at the HZT.

During the show there is mention of issues relating to racism, sexism, transphobic violence, homophobic violence and suicide. If you are the survivor of a hate crime or struggle with any of these topics, here is a (non-exhaustive) list of organisations and resources which could help:

ReachOut is a free counseling center for victims of right-wing, racist and anti-Semitic violence in Berlin.

Gewaltschutz Ambulanz
If you have been assaulted but don’t want to speak to the police, the Gewaltschutz Ambulanz will collect the evidence and keep it on file for a year, and you’ll be under no obligation to press charges. This means you can change your mind in future, or deal with the police when you are ready to. Appointments with the Gewaltschutz Ambulanz are available in 13 different languages. If you do decide you want to tell the police immediately, they’ll arrange a medical examination and evidence collection for you.

Frauenraum has a directory of a counselling services, women’s shelters, and they also offer programs for men who seek help to discontinue their violent behavior:

LARA Rape Crisis and Counselling Centre
Lara deals with “sexual violence/rape, sexual harassment, sexual harassment in the workplace, sexual abuse, coping with trauma, ritual violence, digital violence, stalking and violence against sex workers.” LARA offers counselling services both in person and over the phone. They also offer legal advice every Tuesday.

Schwulenberatung Berlin
A counselling center which offers 1-on-1 or group counselling for LGBTQI+ people for issues relating to coming-out, mental health, alcohol and drug use, addiction and HIV/Aids.

The Berlin Crisis Service
Available for issues including psychosocial crises and acute mental and psychiatric emergencies. Free of charge and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Suicide Stop International Resource Centre
Suicide Hotline Worldwide & Worldwide Suicide Prevention Online Chat
Suicide Stop is a resource center aimed at assisting people who are dealing with suicidal or self-destructive tendencies. It is also tailored to provide essential information and tips for individuals who want to help someone else.
