Program Notes (not in show order!):
International Roundup
-Israel will go to polls on March 2nd for a so-called Zombie Poll that will test their appetite for more Netanyahu.
-Just months before general elections, Dominican Republic just straight-up cancelled municipal elections 3 hours after they began, citing a computer glitch with automated machines. Protesters are outraged and accusing leading parties of trying to retain a grip on power through election fraud.
-Britain unveils new “Australian-style” immigration plan with points system. The plan bars so-called “unskilled labor” and requires English, a job offer, and that the job offer corresponds to high skills. Even with all three, they must reach more points for salary offers. The plan goes into effect in January 2021.
Germany Roundup
We’ve had a few weeks of unrelenting white/ neo-nazi terror in Germany.
-First, police arrested 12 near NRW for planning mass Christchurch-style mosque attacks in 10 locations across Germany. The group, called “Harter Kern” (hard core) has a ringleader named Werner S. that was on an AfD contact list and facebook friends with an AfD functionary in Saxon-Anhalt. Even scarier (because we already know the AfD are nazis) is that one of the suspects picked up police was a POLICE OFFICER himself and had been responsible for weapons licenses in his role.
-A right-wing racist murdered nine people in Hanau, Germany, targetting people of color at Shisha bars.
-Three of the victims were Roma
-The perpetrator had contacted police who did nothing after receiving his threatening and right wing letter.
-The Lübke assassination now has concrete connection to NSU?
