Sounds from around; Mexican beats, Filipino lo-fi craziness (82 songs ! on a compilation), ex-Yugoslavian experimental, 90s Japanese experimental, upcoming Slovenian beats, some modern electronica, Canadian electronic, a rapper, and here we go!
I want to tell you bout Rex Ilusivii, a Serbian-born producer who relocated later to Brazil where he became the most prominent producer after his death in ‘99. I can’t imagine a more dedicated producer who died trying to save new material with his new-found diva Bebel Gilberto, before the completion of her acclaimed Tanto Tempo, the biggest selling Brazilian album outside Brazil. Also the way he was putting his first tracks out was interesting: under the pseudonym Rex Ilusivii he delivered them personally to the Radio Novi Sad reception desk addressed to Dusan Gojkovic, the host of 2 cult radio shows, who broadcasted the recordings. After a year of weekly sending stuff, he discovered his identity. All in all, worth a lot of respect!
